Forever Forgiven! By Renee Burt

II Corinthians 7:2 NLT ~ Please open your hearts to us. We have not done wrong to anyone, nor led anyone astray, nor taken advantage of anyone.

When I was a teenager, I backslid from my relationship with the Lord and did a lot of things I wished I hadn’t. And although I had asked the Lord to forgive me, I still felt as though I wasn’t really forgiven. That hindered me from feeling close to the Lord. Years went by, and I continued to struggle with feeling like God must surely be disappointed with me. But then one day, I was working a flight (I was a flight attendant), and one of my passengers just happened to be Kenneth Copeland. I had been listening to his messages, and they had been really encouraging me that God was a good God…but I still didn’t feel fully forgiven. So I asked him if he would take a minute to talk to me. He so graciously said yes. And after I explained to him how I felt, he opened up his Bible, and showed me today’s verse. He said that if the apostle Paul, who had been responsible for arresting Christians and who held the coats of the men who stoned Stephen, could say he had wronged no one, then he had discovered the truth that God doesn’t hold our sins over our heads. Once they’re forgiven by Him, they’re forever forgiven…and I needed to accept that just as Paul had! I can’t tell you how free I felt after hearing that…I’m still free and forgiven today, despite my mistakes and my imperfections. And not because of my goodness, but because of His goodness! And if that doesn’t make a person want to shout, I don’t know what will…so excuse me, I feel a shout coming on!
