I’ll never forget the time Tim and I were in Mexico during Hurricane Emily. We had only been there for a day when we were herded, along with everyone else, into the lower level of our hotel. It had been turned into a shelter, but to be honest, we didn’t feel all that sheltered. The winds were so strong they were destroying everything around us. But in the midst of it all, we felt a peace that we knew a lot of the other people weren’t experiencing…because our confidence wasn’t in the structure of our hotel…it was in our indestructible God! God brought us through that hurricane…and He reminded me once again that no matter what destructive storms of life may come, I can have that same kind of peace…confident in His promise that He will always bring us through!
Psalm 57:1 AMP ~ Be merciful and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.
