Resting In This Reality

By Renee Burt

I never liked science when I was in school. I didn’t understand its concepts, no matter how hard I tried. Now the funny part is that I got straight “A’s” in all of those classes, but it was only because I would memorize all those facts, even though they meant nothing to me. I thought about that this morning as I was watching the snow fall outside my window. Because the fact is that I don’t need to understand the scientific process of how snow is formed way up somewhere in earth’s atmosphere for me to believe it’s real. I’m not looking out my window, doubting its reality. In the same way, I don’t need to understand how God is going to heal my friend who is battling a terminal disease…and I don’t need to understand how God is going to turn around another friend’s hopeless looking financial situation…and I don’t need to understand how God is going to mend my other friend’s broken marriage. Because the reality is that I’ve seen God change the impossible, I’ve experienced His miracle-working power…and so I can look up this morning and know that somewhere in the heavens, we have a Heavenly Father who is real…and who is making a way where there seems to be no way for the people I love. So I’m sitting here this morning, not questioning but enjoying the reality that snow is real and it’s gently falling outside my window. More importantly, I’m sitting here this morning, not questioning but resting in the reality that God is real…and His blessings are gently falling on you and I today!

Isaiah 55:10-11 NLT ~ “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
