I’ll never forget when my kids were little, and I would take them all to the grocery store. I would discuss beforehand how they should behave while we were in the store. But after just a few minutes, someone would forget what we’d talk about and do something that would embarrass me. I would find Stephanie sucking the salt off of the bulk peanuts, or I’d find Jeff hiding in the crack between the produce shelves, or Peter would push his childsize cart repeatedly into someone’s heels, or Matt would throw a tantrum. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but someone would always shoot me a dirty look that without words said, “What kind of mom are you anyway?” Well, I knew I was a good mom…but my kids’ behavior certainly made a few people question that from time to time. Hmmm…that made me think, does MY behavior ever make people question the character and integrity of my heavenly Father? I would certainly hope not…but just in case, I think I’ll mediate on today’s verse a little bit more! Want to join me?
Ephesians 4:1 AMP ~ I THEREFORE…appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service.
