We’ve Got a Job to Do!

It’s so easy to get caught up with all the “jobs” we have as a spouse, as a parent, as an employee, as a volunteer, as a friend…trying to be the best we can be, and do the best that we can. And that’s good. But so often we’re so busy in the job of “doing” we don’t focus enough attention on the job of “being.” Being what? Today’s scripture tells us that as far as God is concerned, our most basic job is “being a bliessing.” And when we take that job seriously that He’s given us, we’ll BE blessed in the process. Not that’s a job that pays incredible dividends, wouldn’t you say? So let’s get to work – we’ve got a job to do!

I Peter 3:8 MSG ~ Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing.
