This Historic Day for the United States and Israel

Today is my 65th birthday. It is also one of the most historic days in U.S. history! Many won’t understand that until hindsight proves it out in the decades to come. Pastor Tim, are you saying your 65th birthday is historic? No I’m not. My birthday is just another day. But on this day in 1948, Israel became a nation. And today, May 14, 2018, the American embassy has been moved to Jerusalem signifying that Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel and of the Jewish people and state. Many U.S. Presidents in their campaigns leading to their presidency, promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem. They never did. They never had the political courage and backbone to do so. But then Donald Trump was elected as President and fulfilled his campaign promise to do so. America is the first nation to move its embassy to Jerusalem. President Trump and America will be blessed for this! And one of the many but great influences in this happening was Christians United For Israel (CUFI) and Pastor John Hagee! He gave the Benediction today which you can watch here.  And the reason this will prove to be a historic day for the U.S. in future hindsight looking back, is because this will have an impact upon the blessing of the United States that is immeasurable. When the United States is blessed, its blessing ripples around the world to those that love Israel, and even touching some of the nations that associate with the U.S. that don’t love Israel.

I had the honor of being a part of the original 400 Christian leaders that pledged to start CUFI under Pastor John Hagee’s leadership in 2006. It grew from 400 leaders to 4.1 million people today. Over the 12 years since we originally met, we’ve brought thousands to Washington DC yearly to meet with every Senator and Congressperson regarding the support of Israel. The influence of CUFI had helped change Washington and it’s support for Israel for the good. Israel is one of America’s greatest allies.

Today, the moving of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem is an answer to prayer and the hard work in our efforts to support Israel. And I know it blesses the heart of God. Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV) “Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house,To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”  Today, the U.S. has blessed Israel. It blesses the heart of God!

Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olivet in Bethany, a Sabbath day’s walk from Jerusalem. This is where He will return. He’ll walk to Jerusalem and establish His Kingdom and reign on earth for 1,000 years. God gives us a glimpse into that time. As you read the verses below, you will see the importance of the Jewish people, Israel, and Jerusalem. Let them speak to your heart. They will help you better understand the need to give them our wholehearted support and pray for the peace of Israel and Jerusalem.

Isaiah 60:1-22 (NLT) “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the Lord is shining upon you. Darkness as black as night will cover all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord will shine over you. All nations will come to your light. Mighty kings will come to see your radiance.

“Look and see, for everyone is coming home! Your sons are coming from distant lands; your little daughters will be carried home. Your eyes will shine, and your hearts will thrill with joy, for merchants from around the world will come to you. They will bring you the wealth of many lands… In that day I will make my Temple glorious.

“And what do I see flying like clouds to Israel, like doves to their nests? They are the ships of Tarshish, reserved to bring the people of Israel home. They will bring their wealth with them, and it will bring great honor to the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he will fill you with splendor.

“Foreigners will come to rebuild your cities. Kings and rulers will send you aid. For though I have destroyed you in my anger, I will have mercy on you through my grace. Your gates will stay open around the clock to receive the wealth of many lands. The kings of the world will be led as captives in a victory procession. For the nations that refuse to be your allies will be destroyed. The glory of Lebanon will be yours—the forests of cypress, fir, and pine—to beautify my sanctuary. My Temple will be glorious!

“The children of your tormentors will come and bow before you. Those who despised you will kiss your feet. They will call you the City of the Lord, and Zion of the Holy One of Israel. “Though you were once despised and hated and rebuffed by all, you will be beautiful forever. You will be a joy to all generations, for I will make you so. Powerful kings and mighty nations will bring the best of their goods to satisfy your every need. You will know at last that I, the Lord, am your Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. I will exchange your bronze for gold, your iron for silver, your wood for bronze, and your stones for iron. Peace and righteousness will be your leaders! Violence will disappear from your land; the desolation and destruction of war will end. Salvation will surround you like city walls, and praise will be on the lips of all who enter there.

“No longer will you need the sun or moon to give you light, for the Lord your God will be your everlasting light, and he will be your glory. The sun will never set; the moon will not go down. For the Lord will be your everlasting light. Your days of mourning will come to an end. All your people will be righteous. They will possess their land forever, for I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory. The smallest family will multiply into a large clan. The tiniest group will become a mighty nation. I, the Lord, will bring it all to pass at the right time.”

Genesis 12:3 (NIV) “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
