Fresh Manna

I have written about this before, but felt impressed to talk about it more this morning! In the Old Testament, there are different Hebrew words used for sin. One is chata’. Chata’ means missing such as missing the mark. We see the word chata’ used for the word sin in the verse Psalm 119:11 NKJV “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” We might read it like this, “I have hidden your word in my heart so that I won’t miss it and sin.” This makes me think of a friend whom I heard say something inappropriate to his wife. As soon as he said it, he softly spoke the words, Oh, oh. I’ve just blown it.
Worrying is chata’—it’s missing the mark. It’s sin. When we worry, we chata’—we miss it. For many people worry feels like compassion. I’ve been worried about you! Your upbringing may have taught you that to worry for someone is like an act of compassion. It’s not true. Its chata’—it’s missing it. Worrying does nothing but bring momentum to unbelief which is the enemy of God. Unbelief strips faith from our lives. Worry strips faith from our lives.
Hebrews 11:6 NIV says, “…without faith it is impossible to please God…” When we read that “Jesus was amazed at the people’s unbelief” in Mark 6:6, it’s not a compliment. It was actually the unbelief of the people who hindered His power preventing miracles and healing. Matthew 13:58 NLT says, “And so he (Jesus) did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.”
Have you ever had to unclog a clogged drain? What you pull out is disgustingly gross! Worry is just like one of those disgusting things that clogs. It hinders the power of God from operating in our life because of the inherent power of unbelief. Unbelief is really faith. It’s faith in what the devil can do rather than faith in what God can do. Think about it. You’ve probably heard someone speak these words. Oh, I just know they are going to downsize my company and I’ll lose my job, or Oh, I am so afraid I am going to get the flu this winter!, or I’m never going to find the right person who will love and respect me. All the good ones are taken! or I know I’ll get a stupid cold. I always do! Worry is the down payment on the very thing you dread coming. It’s the payment of unbelief which is faith in what the devil will bring against you. This is why God instructed us through His Word saying, “Cast all your anxiety (cares and worries) on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)
So if worry is sin, what is the solution to worry? Put a stake through your worries! The stakes are the promises of God. The promises of God are demolishers of unbelief. Taking them into your heart will, over time, strengthen your mind, strengthen your heart, and transform you from a worrier to a prayer and proclaimer of your faith in Him! You’ll be one who puts your stake in the ground and takes hold of what Jesus died to give you—your inheritance in Him. You will become one who learns to say with confidence, “…For God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you. That is
why we can say without any doubt or fear, “The Lord is my Helper, and I am not
afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.” Hebrews 13:5-6 (TLB)
Instead of worrying about the multitude of negative situations that blow into our life like the wind, cast the cares of them one-by-one on the Lord. Rise up in faith and prayer and say, Father, I will not miss the mark by worrying about any of these negative situations. I will pray and put my trust in you. I’ll be attentive to you leading me in my steps. And I’ll praise you because I know you love me and care about even the smallest details of my life. Instead of worrying, I will discuss them with you through the eyes of faith and with the promises you give me to proclaim before you. Thank you for building my faith. Thank you for your precious promises. Thank you allowing me to lay them at your feet and walk forward in peace trusting you! In Jesus name I pray!
This is putting the promises of God to work which IS hitting the mark! This is the exercise of faith that is pleasing to God! Do this and you won’t be guilty of worrying. or of hindering God’s power by worrying and missing the mark. No chata’ for you today. As 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your cares, your worries, and your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” Proclaim His goodness in your life. Sing His praises. Let faith and praise arise!
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”

So inspiring and just came into my life at the right time. It’s never easy with family issues but i believe God would handle everything.
Praise God Emeka! God is always right on time and always finds a way to speak to us to encourage us and give us hope!
God bless you!
Wow! This is a great message, i really enjoyed it and i its just found a place in my heart. I really really love it. “no more worries for me”. May God strengthen you and keep you strong to continue in this journey of faith through Jesus Christ our lord. Amen
Thanks for the kind words! Slay those dragons of worries and let it usher in God’s peace through trust in Him.
I’ve just copied this down and will keep it in my Bible. Mark and I can talk about it when we have our prayer time. I do try not to worry about my children and I substitute this word with the word concern. I do not see them and have had to make the decision to “not even eat with such a one” after years of attempts by him to control me and years of abuse – he was spoilt and his tantrums were given into. Today, his tantrums are far more serious and hurt many people – his wife and kids and others too. Still they are learned behaviours from his childhood where as the youngest he was the very centre of all our attention. I will use your prayer for it is so helpful to me and the words need to penetrate my very soul “Father, I will not miss the mark by worrying about my children. I will pray and put my trust in you. For as much as I love them, I know you love them more! They belong to you. I thank you today that you are raising up labours to talk with them and boldly share your love with them. I thank you that the eyes of their understanding is enlightened by your Holy Spirit. I thank you that your angels surround them today and I rebuke every demonic attack that the enemy has set against them. I ask that your assist them as your Holy Spirit leads them to you”.
My blessings to you.
Many thanks for these writings for they are valuable and instructive. Received with much gratitude.
Thanks Maureen for the comments. I have raised my children and now I have as much input in their life as they let me have. I have to maintain their respect and remember they are adults and I know longer have a say in their life except that which they listen to and give me. I do pray and say this to the Lord most every day in the spirit of thanks. I thank the Lord that He is teaching my children now! Isaiah 54:13 (NIV) All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children’s peace.
