This is What Makes Faith Strong, Powerful and Perfect

One of the most beautiful things in receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior, is the deposit of the Holy Spirit—that is, the very Spirit of God who comes to abide or live within our being. 2 Corinthians 5:5 says, “Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit (the Holy Spirit) as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

The second you sincerely receive Jesus as your Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you. From that moment, you have the ability to see life through God’s eyes and progressively understand His plan and purpose as you read His Word. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God to help you know His will, His heart, and His character.

As this miraculous change, often called The New Birth, happens in your life, God establishes and intimate relationship with you! He works to reveal the depth of His love for you and His desire for good and not evil, and a hope and future for you! As you purpose in your heart to seek Him and draw close to Him, He likewise draws close to you. That starts with the promise of James 4:8 “,,,draw close to God, and God will draw close to you…” He begins to speak of His unfathomable love and mercy toward you! He will never force Himself on you. The entire relationship is a product of faith—you believing what He has said and promised to you in His Word as truth. And that intimacy will blossom as you draw near to Him through His Word, through prayer, and through worshiping Him for whom He is, Almighty God.

God calls Himself a Father to you. You can’t get more intimate than that! 2 Corinthians 6:18 says, “And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” God sweetens this revelation of intimacy saying, “So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God’s very own children, adopted into His family—calling Him “Father, dear Father.” Romans 8:15 (NLT)

When people are ignorant of all whom He is and will be to us, they call Him names like, the big guy in the sky, or the head honcho, etc. They do this because they just don’t know Him, or how to relate to Him. On the opposite side of the coin, believers that do learn of God’s intimacy often become too familiar with Him and without realizing it, bring God down to an almost human level. Although God has adopted us as His children and is a greater Father than any man could ever be, and though He has invited us to experience that kind off intimacy with Him, we still can never forget He is God. He is Almighty God!

You don’t get mad at Almighty God. Though He calls us His friend, we don’t make God our buddy. He is perfect. He is Holy. He is omnipotent and infinite. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. In Isaiah 9:6 NIV Jesus is called “Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace” and more— all names of God’s magnificence and glory!

We must be careful in our intimacy with God, to always honor Him as God. If we lower Him in nature we diminish our own faith. We forget His unmatchable love and power and lose faith in God who makes “…all things possible to him who believes.” If we don’t worship and honor God, we eventually treat Him like others whom we take advantage of. We eventually sin against Him uncaringly!

We must always esteem and exalt God in our heart for who He is! In doing so, you’ll find that you elevate your faith in Him!  Psalm 96:6-9 NKJV says it like this: “Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.”

In perfect intimacy with God, He is thee most loving Father one could have. He is also Almighty God. He knows everything going on in your life. He is powerful and mighty. He will answer your prayers. But He is also tending His plan for all mankind to come to  know Jesus and be saved. He is the God of miracles and He will be there for you even when it doesn’t look like it. He alone can be intimate with every person on this planet, all at the same time! And nothing is impossible for Him. When you can wrap your faith around all that, and have a revelation and honoring attitude of all He is, this is what makes your faith strong, and powerful and perfect! Love Him and worship Him today!

Psalm 97:6 “The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples see His glory.”

  1. Thank you for another excellent blog post Pastor, Tim. To this day, it never fails to amaze me, as to regard the power of new birth! I remember walking into a large Pentecostal church 21 years ago, the church was full of people praising the name of Jesus, some of them were singing in a funny language, apparently called tongues! It felt exceptionally strange to be in this place and yet I knew I had to be there, I just hoped that none of my friends saw me there!

Receiving the born-again spirit was a process for me and yet when I said yes to Jesus my thinking, my thoughts, my heart was totally turned around, almost every day I wake up and think its such an amazing thing to have this born-again spirit, it’s just totally life changing!

Many years down the line I am pleased to say that I am not embarrassed if my friends see me in church, I am proud in a good way to represent the name of Jesus! And that funny language that I heard in church? Thankfully, I received the gift of tongues and what a wonderful gift this is, to be driving down the road and communicating with Jesus’s wonderful language as a promise from Jesus.

Enjoy your day Pastor Tim and blessings to you all.

    Roy

    • Praise God Roy! What a wonderful testimony to the power of God in our lives! I love hearing your testimony! Feel free to share more of the story with me! I love it. And I don’t know what I’d do without the wonderful gift of tongues!
      God bless you!

      • Thank you, Pastor Tim, I will try and share more of my testimony, I know that everyone’s testimony can potentially be very powerful! The wonderful gift of tongues is another thing that never fails to amaze me, talking to God in such a beautiful language!

        Blessings to you all.
