This is Who God Made You to Be! Part Two

Fresh Manna

Last Week, I started writing about what to do when it feels like your having a bad day. Do you cave into it? Do you become it’s victim? The problem with allowing that to happen is that Satan will accommodate it over and over again. It’s who he is. It’s what he does. Remember the old cliché’, Misery loves company? Well that describes Satan to a tee. His destiny is the eternal lake of fire and he wants to deceive and destroy as many lives as possible before that time comes. Jesus said, in John 10:10 (NLT) “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

Deceiver, destroyer, liar, accuser—these are all the character qualities of Satan. He’ll use any tool to bring you down! And the warfare begins not with the trigger of the circumstance, but in the mind and how you allow it to be framed with your thoughts! Are you helpless to his attacks? Do you have to become his victim?

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” This verse says “whom he may devour.Whom is questionable in this verse meaning he can’t devour everyone, so he has to find the ones he can. Those are the ones who don’t know who they are in Christ. God tells us to be on guard! To be sober and vigilant—on the watch, so we don’t get devoured.

Satan is always out to destroy God’s people but, God has given us the name of Jesus to rebuke and resist the devil. He doesn’t want us to let the devil ruin our day or life. God doesn’t want us to feel hopeless. God wants us to remember we are in covenant relationship with Him and He is there for us to help turn things around.

Let me show you more about the secrets of God and the power of His name. Remember when Moses was leading the children of Israel out of Egypt? He came up to the Red Sea with Pharaoh coming quickly behind him and no place to go. The Lord spoke to Moses at the time and told him what to do. Jesus’ name and authority was hidden in God’s instruction to Moses. We see it in Exodus 14:16 KJV. “But lift thou up thy rod and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. When Moses held the rod out over the Red Sea, the Red Sea divided and they walked through but Pharaoh’s army drowned as the sea came back together on them.”

The Hebrew word for rod is mattah meaning branch. Did you know that “Branch” was one of the names God gave Jesus in the prophesies of His coming. We see it in Isaiah 11:1 KJV, “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.  And Jeremiah 23:5-6 KJV, “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’”

These verses are talking about Jesus coming from the lineage of Jesse and David. He was called “a Branch” —the same word for Moses’ rod held over the Red Sea. Moses rod represented the power and authority of the name of Jesus leading to their miracle—their deliverance from Pharaoh’s army, and Pharaoh’s (or Satan’s) defeat.

Jesus is your branch—your authority and your defense against Satan’s attacks against you. That is who you are! Isaiah 54:17 (NLT2) tells us of your heritage and God’s promise to you saying: “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!”

Satan would like to make life this never-ending grind with one attack after another. Knowing who you are in Christ, knowing the depth of God’s love toward you, knowing the power and promise of His Word and the name of Jesus, are all divine insights for you to walk in. And they are the authority with which to stop them and defeat them. Kick the enemy out. Put on a Christ-like attitude, and know God’s on your side and for you. Pray and rebuke the enemy of soul and thank God for His love and desire to turn your day for good! Extend your arm as Moses held out the rod and declare what the rod represented—that God is your righteousness and heritage and your pathway to the blessing of God when the enemy is trying to chase you down! Declare Satan defeated and rejoice that God is working in you and through you! This is your heritiage as a Christian and born-again believer of Jesus Christ. This is who you were made to be in Him!

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
