Fresh Manna
by Pastor Tim Burt
I was in my home office working when my computer starting acting like it was having a nervous breakdown. I’m savvy enough in my computer skills to trouble shoot a few things but nothing I tried this time seemed to work. This was a problem because I had some important work and serious deadlines and did not have time to waste. I was feeling pressure. There’s nothing like pressure to solicit wrong emotions and actions. And so, it triggered my auto-response: God cares about what I care about, so stop and pray.
I stopped and put my head down and asked the Lord, What should I do? In Matthew 18:19 Jesus teaches us of the power of agreement saying, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth concerning anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.”
I called Renee into the room. She came and I took her hand. We prayed in agreement taking authority over this situation. “Lord, in Jesus name, I rebuke every principality and power and ruler of the darkness trying to hinder me from finishing my work.” (Ephesians 6:11) I continued to pray, Lord, help me resolve this situation and show me if there is anything I can do! This is what I do in crisis situations. I stop and consult the Lord asking, What should I do? I think through the actions I need to take making make sure I’ve done everything I know to do. And finally, I take authority over every attack and device Satan would use to hinder the progress God wants me to make.
When we finished praying, I felt impressed to do something I hadn’t previously done. I had already rebooted my computer turning it off and on a couple of times, but with no results. This time I unplugged the power cord for a couple of minutes. When I re-plugged the computer and turned it back on, it worked perfectly.
Why would I dare to believe that God would care about such things and help me? I would because He does love and care for me and wants to be involved in the details of my life! All good and loving parents have this instinct. We do because it’s God’s instinct passed on to us! He is our spiritual Father. In Matthew 7:11 NKJV, we see Jesus instruct us in this truth. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?” And this truth is reinforced again in Philippians 4:6. “Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
These verses and more make it clear that God cares about the details of our life. God’s Word continuously teaches us this. Psalms 55:22 (NLT) says, “Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”
Anxiety, difficult situations, and cares come in life. But the good news is, God cares for you. Not just cares but intimately cares for you! That means He cares about the details. If that is not embedded in your heart, spend time praying and seeing this truth in God’s word and let it become embedded in you! Have confidence and faith that God cares. Have confidence and faith that He will rescue you but don’t box Him in! His grace will top your expectations And most of all, have confidence and enough trust and faith to ask Him about everything!
Psalms 91:14 (NLT) “The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.”
In His love,
