How Smart Are You? Here’s What God Says!

There are some really intelligent people in this world. Some of those intelligent people are smarter than smart—brilliant might be a more appropriate word. But for some of them, their intelligence has become a curse. Why do I say that? Many who are smarter than smart are also those who through their intelligence, erased God’s imprint on everything that exists. For those whose intelligence has led them to the belief that God does not exist, their intelligence has blinded them, become a curse, and actually made them foolish. They’ve made themselves the god of their life.

All the majestic glories of existence were created by God. Science was meant to help man not only see God’s imprint, but to reveal Himself through the glory of His creation. God created the hunger and desire within man to scientifically search and discover the mysteries of creation so that he would face the reality of his extreme limitations when compared to the brilliance of all that God created. That is exactly what God is saying to Job in Job 38:4-14 (NLT). “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? “Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness? For I locked it behind barred gates, limiting its shores. I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’ “Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the east? Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness? As the light approaches, the earth takes shape like clay pressed beneath a seal; it is robed in brilliant colors.”

Technology and innovation may at times dazzle us, that is until we take time to realize and admit that man’s greatest genius is crude when compared to what God has created. The parts that man makes to replace worn out knees and hips may work and be a blessing, but they are crude compared to the intricacies of the human bodya miracle in its creation. The intelligent person that denies God, has really demonstrated a great level of unintelligence as revealed in Psalms 53:1 NIV. “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God…” God calls them fools! Psalms 53:2 NLT says, “God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.”

The simplest person can see the glory of God in creation. God made it that way. That makes them truly intelligent. The unintelligent, those who deny God, are described in Romans 1:18-22 NLT. “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was l like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.”

I’ve told you all this today for this reason: life’s busyness is a distraction to hinder us from seeking God through His Word and prayer. It’s a distraction to hinder us from thanking Him for all who He is. And from praying to Him for all that we need. When you allow yourself to become too busy to spend time with God and His Word, you soon become prayerless, and unthankful. You begin to live your life like someone who does not believe in or need God. Remember that God calls that person “a fool.” Don’t let those distractions steal your love and the intimate walk with God that He intended for you to experience through Jesus. Jesus paid the price so you could enter into that relationship and know God personally and intimately. God is your glorious crutch in life! Love Him and lean on Him today and everyday!

Psalms 145:4-7 (NLT) “Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.”
