God’s Desire for Intimacy With You

God loves you—more than you know! He wants you to know this. Why? Because then you might stop thinking that bad things that happen in your life are because of Him or from Him. If bad was coming from God, you’d be afraid of Him and probably keep your distance. He’d hate that. But they aren’t coming from God and this is why He so badly wants you to know of the depth of His love for you! If you knew and believed that, you’d see more of the good He is doing in your life. And then when you prayed asking for His help, you’ll have greater faith that He sincerely delights in helping you! If you know that someone really, really loves you, you’d carry those kinds of expectations.  And so, today I want you to know that God deeply loves you! That is why the Apostle Paul prayed about the increase of your personal revelation of how much God loves you. He prayed, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)

This verse closes with these words, “…Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Why does it say that? Why would you then be filled with the fullness of life and power? Because if you walked in the full revelation of how much God loves you, you would have a confidence in Him working in you and in your life, and working through you as you shine for Him in this world! This is something to pause and meditate on!

Again the verse says, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is.” Those first words, “may you have the power to understand,” from the Greek literally mean and say this: “May you be completely confident and have full strength to eagerly seize, and take possession of…” This is not a passive statement. It’s aggressive saying that as you pray, you should confidently expect God to reveal His love to you in a way that you can take hold of and experience an ever-increasing knowledge of it. And, if you do, then you will “…be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Do you sense and feel God’s life and power in your life? He wants you to!

In closing, meditate on this. Pray and ask God to help you grow in your revelation of His love. Only He can reveal this to you in an intimate and personal way! And He will as you pray and ask Him to. And it will translate into a greater confidence of His Holy Spirit and power working in your life, and a greater intimacy with Him! Thank you Lord for your love toward us!

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV) “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears
us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
