Fresh Manna

I was at my weekly discipleship group with my fabulous friends. We started talking about some of the most powerful verses in the Bible. One of the guys asked me, What do you think is the most powerful verse of scripture in the Bible? That wasn’t an easy question to answer! There are so many powerful verses and actually, God describes all His word as “quick and powerful” in Hebrews 4:12. But, having said that, there is one verse that has had this incredible ability to instantly strengthen my heart when I read or hear it. That verse is Romans 8:11. It says, “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.” 
First of all, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the very pit of Hell, may be one of the most powerful events to happen since the creation of this world and man. Jesus himself never sinned, yet He was crucified as a sinner taking upon Himself, our sins. He died, was laid in a tomb, and was raised from the dead on the third day. We see this in 1 Peter 3:18 (NLT) “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but He died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.”
This incomprehensible event happened with the Spirit of God—the Holy Spirit, raising Him from the dead. And again, we are told in Romans 8:11, “He who raised Christ from the dead WILL ALSO give life to YOUR mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in YOU.” This is telling us that it’s the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead that lives in you! Can you be infused with more power than that? Can you look discouragement in the eye and shout, I’m not powerless! The Spirit of God lives in me! The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead live in me and is for me! Remember this and let it strengthen your heart and attitude when trouble is trying to discourage you and you’ll never be the same!
My life was so misguided and confused before I had given my life to Jesus. I was on a collision course with death and Hell. But when I gave my life to Jesus, that all changed—powerfully and supernaturally! Jesus adopts us as His own the moment we give our life to Him.. Romans 8:15 (NLT) “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba, Father.” 
Every day we are surrounded by a world enveloped in conflict, devastation and evil. In our day-to-day experience as we deal with people, we are frequently confronted with some form of conflict. Satan is always working to drag us down into the mud. We get seduced into complaining, gossiping, bad attitudes, and so much more. That can make anyone feel carnal, and powerless, and a spiritual failure. It is at those times that the Holy Spirit reminds me, No Tim, you are not powerless nor did I ask you to stand before me in the perfection of your own righteousness. You do the best you can but the righteousness that you stand in is a gift from Jesus. You never could stand in your own strength and ability to get things right. You are washed by the precious blood of my Son Jesus. I’ve adopted you into my family. Your righteousness is a gift of Jesus. And remember, It is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead that lives and dwells in you! And, He has given you His power to live out your life here for Him. Now let’s get your mind off carnal things and instead, meditate on the gift of my Holy Spirit and power within you. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and walk in My love, strengthen, righteousness, and power!”
And to that I say, Yes Lord! I stand reminded. I pick myself back up in His power. And I handle life in His grace and wisdom. And I grow in Him in the process! And so will you because you’ve been infused with His power! Not your own.
