God Has My Blessing in Mind

I remember something horrible my mind was plagued with in the early years of my walk with God. Every time something went wrong in my life, the devil would attack my mind saying, This is it. You think you’ve had a pretty good run with God these last few years, but this is where the bottom falls out. This is just the beginning of many bad things coming your way.

That experience is not new or uncommon. I believe all Christians have heard that at some time or another. This has always been one of the devil’s ploys! Satan’s lies and tricks never change. He tried to use them against Jesus, and he tries against us.

Most of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day were jealous of the powerful words He spoke and the miracles He did. And so Satan used them to attack Jesus. But this was Jesus’ response to them.  John 8:44 (NIV) You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. ”

Satan is the father of all lies! Lies can have a powerful effect if they are believed. Sometimes things do go wrong in life. Sometimes it looks like things are collapsing, we’ve lost the battle, and Satan is going to sink our ship. When challenging circumstances look me in the face, and the fear of failure tries to creep up on me, I get into and meditate on the promises of God’s Word. I come away again and again renewed and saying, Don’t count on it devil. It’s not over! God has my blessing in mind!

Abraham and Sara were written off. They wanted a child, but now they were too old. I’m sure they were the discussion of many people who thought or said to them, It’s over! There won’t be any children for you two. Abraham was old, yet God told Abraham He would give him a flesh and blood son. When God tells you something, it’s not like when others tell you something. God does not and cannot lie. Romans 3:4 (MSG) says it like this: “…Depend on it: God keeps his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same: Your words stand fast and true; Rejection doesn’t faze you.”

Numbers 23:19 (NLT) further tells us, “God is not a man, that He should lie. He is not a human that He should change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through?”

We need to learn that nothing that God promises is over until He has said it is. We need to remember that God does His part, and we do ours. It’s our part to have faith and believe, to follow and obey His leading, and to trust in His promises! That is why we have to become one who says; It’s not over devil! God has my blessing in mind!

For Abraham, God made Him a promise—and unimaginable promise! To most, if not all, the thought of it coming true seemed insane. Every natural circumstance had said it was over, but not to Abraham. What was impossible to Abraham was God’s ability to lie. He couldn’t, and Abraham knew it. Therefore he had faith in His God, whom he knew was the one and only true God—the God of the impossible.

Romans 4:18-21 NLT reminds us, “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb.”

Circumstances to rob our faith don’t get worse than what Abraham faced.  Even so, he knew that because of the promise of God, It wasn’t over. God had His blessing in mind! He may not have understood how, but He knew that God was faithful to His Word.

Romans 4:20-22 NLT continues saying,  “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was absolutely convinced that God was able to do anything He promised. And because of Abraham’s faith, God declared him to be righteous.“

What is it that the devil is trying to steal from you? Even if the circumstances look like the devil has succeeded, has God spoken a promise to you? Are you letting God’s Word be so intimate, alive, and personal to you that it has made you grit your teeth, shake your fist at the devil and say, Devil, you obviously don’t know my God.  Your future is laid before you, and it’s horrible and worse than bleak. On the contrary, mine is blessed by God, and this situation is not over! God has my blessing in mind! God will decide and determine when that is and I know this—I will be on the victory side!

Do you know God’s promises? If not, it’s time to learn them. It’s time to declare them. It’s time to sing them and pray them and rejoice in them. Forgive those around you that have their doubts. They might not know God like you do. Turn off the nightly bad news that robs your faith and open up the Word of God. Let your eyes feast on His promises, and let them lift you back up into a place of faith and great hope in God!

Psalm 9:9 NKJV says, “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.” And Psalm 46:1 NLT, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” And Psalms 37:39 NKJV, “But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: He is their strength in the time of trouble.”

I thank God that the devil is defeated and the Lord is exalted, and His Word prevails in our lives through your faith in Him!  Learn to say; It’s not over devil. God has got my blessing in mind! Let your faith grow strong like Abraham’s, and let God be true and every man (and circumstance) be a liar. Just stand strong no matter how long it takes, and know that God has your blessing in mind and your testimony is coming!

Romans 4:20 (NLT) Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God”
