Beware of Opening Yourself to Demonic Activity!

I know what you are thinking! Have you ever said that to someone or had someone say that to you? Renee and I have been married for 45 years. There are times when I could accurately guess what is going through her mind, as she might also do with me. That is really only about familiarity. We sometimes know someone so well that we can guess what they’re thinking about. That is not the same as knowing what they are thinking about because you have some mystical connection to their mind and thoughts. Although that kind of idea is often seen in movies, television, and media, it’s not true, and to the contrary—faith or believing that someone has that ability opens the door of your heart to demonic activity, deception, and demonic attacks.

We may be familiar with how people usually think, but we can’t know what someone else is thinking. 1 Corinthians 2:11 (NLT) says, “No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone…” Why is this important to know? Because Satan works hard to sneak demonic ideas and concepts into your life without you even realizing it—ideas that are not true but that you could easily and naively believe and put faith in. And again, when you do, it opens the door to demonic activity. Why? Because faith, or what you believe, is what opens your heart to your belief system of God.

Spiritual and mystical ideas and concepts that do not come from the Bible but from the minds of men become the introduction and foothold of demonic activity and spiritual attacks upon our lives. We must be aware of them, cast them out if they presently have a place in our lives, and reject them in our hearts at every appearance. Satan uses them to deceive us into believing lies, which then sets us up for attacks on our lives. Superstition, horoscopes, fortunes and fortune tellers, mindreaders, curses, jinxes, etc., are just a few examples, in addition to straightforward cults, that people believe in, and it adversely affects their belief system, thinking, and behavior. They are all designed to have you put your faith in something false rather than faith and trust in God’s Word. And if you don’t realize this, faith in any of Satan’s lies actually empowers Him to hurt you!

There are those, that out of curiosity or the desire to be entertained, read horoscopes or visit fortune tellers trying to find out their future. Some listen to psychics or to those who say they can speak to the dead. People who have lost a loved one and so earnestly desire to speak with their lost loved ones are ripe for this form of deception. There are continuous waves of television shows about people seeing into the past and future and talking to the dead. Hollywood producers are ignorant of God’s Word and have no idea that they are pawns in Satan’s hand to push demonic influence.

It may be called just entertainment, but this becomes the seed planted in people’s minds that seduce them to believing that there just might be something to it. Just as Christians are used as God’s vessels to bring the good news and love of Jesus, people can unknowingly be used by Satan to bring deceptive and demonic practices and illusions, which is false power that appears to be supernatural. Those who write horoscopes, tell fortunes, read Tarot cards, read palms or crystal balls—those who call themselves psychics and those who communicate with the dead ARE being used by Satan. Run from them!

God instructed His people through Moses, “… do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations… Let no one be found among you … who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD… But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.”
Deuteronomy 18:9-14

Satan will work more and more of this deception in the earth as we get closer to Jesus’ second coming. 1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT) says, “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times, some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.”

You can’t and won’t be able to know the future except for what God reveals in His Word. What you can know and put your faith in is the promises of God to love, care for, and guide us daily through life.  Jeremiah 29:11 NIV puts it like this:  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Putting faith in demonically used fakes contaminates your belief system and will open your life to demonic attacks. Putting faith in the promises of God’s word opens your life to His blessing. God and His word (the Bible) alone are worthy of trusting and what God wants you to believe, trust Him in, and have faith in. It will be the source of supernatural peace and mental soundness. So don’t blow this off! What you believe and allow in your heart matters to you and to God!

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
