Fresh Mannaby Pastor Tim BurtIt’s surprising how often the things that matter most—our relationship with God, meaningful time with loved ones, and a healthy, balanced life—get pushed aside. Meanwhile, distractions that add little value dominate our time and energy, leaving us feeling empty and discouraged. Why do we let the most important parts of life suffer while giving so much to what steals our joy and peace? This paradox helps us understand the profound truth in these words about Jesus:“The true Light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him.”(John 1:9-11, NIV)Jesus is the light—the one who reveals the meaning of life and guides us toward what truly matters. He shows us what is good, right, and worthwhile, shining wisdom into our decisions and attitudes. Yet, the world has long searched for purpose while ignoring the very one who created us and holds the answers. How could this be?The passage says, “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.” Jesus, the author of all creation, came to us with the power to light our path and guide our choices, but humanity overlooked Him. From the beginning, God sought to help Adam and Eve discern good from evil, and today He continues to offer His light to lead us. Yet the world still looks elsewhere for direction. How could this be?Even more heartbreaking are these words: “He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him.” Jesus came to save and restore us, yet He was rejected—not just in the past, but even now. We may have received Him as our Savior, but do we truly make space for Him in our lives? Do we give Him time in prayer and His Word, or does He get pushed to the margins by the busyness of life? Do we seek His guidance in our decisions and honor Him with heartfelt worship, or is He left waiting for scraps of our attention?Jesus is the light of the world, and He wants to illuminate your life. He calls us not only to let His light shine within us but also to reflect it to others in a dark world. Let’s choose today to embrace Him fully—not as an afterthought, but as the center of our lives. Let’s allow His Word to shape our hearts, His presence to guide our steps, and His light to shine through us to those around us.The world desperately needs His light. May we embrace Him today and let His truth transform us, so we can reflect His love, wisdom, and grace to a world that still struggles to recognize the Light. Let’s not leave Him waiting—let Him illuminate your heart today!Philippians 2:14-15"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world."In His love,Pastor Tim Burt
