Fresh Mannaby Pastor Tim BurtA note from Pastor Tim - I'm back from vacation and back to writing. In my last five part series on Relationships and Fresh Manna, I said that I would be holding a Zoom meeting for those that were interested to learn more about how to get manna from the word of God. I'll be doing that this Wednesday night at 7:00 pm Central Daylight Savings Time. It will be a one hour meeting max and the space is limited. If you would like to be invited to this, click on the feedback link at the bottom and say so leaving me your email address to send you the link to the meeting! God bless you! Have you felt overwhelmed lately? Most of us have experienced times where we’ve felt that way. When my wife's mother who was 92, fell and broke her hip, my wife's schedule immediately had to be adjusted to spend time helping her almost daily. This lasted for a very long time and here we are a couple of years later and she is still helping her weekly. Since those times are not planned but suddenly appear in your life, they can overwhelm your schedule with busyness and emotional exhaustion. And that can spill over to those around you. Over the years, the Lord has taught us a couple of simple but powerful tips to remember when dealing with times like this.

The First thing Lord has taught us that has helped us immensely is; don't keep thinking about everything that you see lying ahead. You really don't know all that's ahead. Instead, just focus on the present and what you are dealing with in the moment. Some days are so busy that you have to take them on a half-day or even just one activity or appointment, or hour at a time. God gives grace for everything one step at a time! And He tells us to come boldly to His throne for it! Hebrews 4:16 (NLT2) "So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."Secondly, God always helps us manage those feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed out. He does so when we remember to sit down and pray through everything we are going through together. Renee and I make time to do this. When we do, it's incredible how much weight feels lifted from our shoulders! He instructed the children of Israel to become dependent daily on Him for manna. Manna is the Word of God—the promises of God’s word to each and every believer of Jesus Christ. God is in covenant with you. Your faith in His promises can supernaturally bring His grace to the moment of feeling overwhelmed and lift you above them. For example, you take some quiet time to be with Him by reading His Word. Suddenly you find yourself reading something like Psalm 61:2-3 (NLT) that says, “From the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help, for my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for You are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.” You smile because you know the Lord led you to those verses to encourage and strengthen you! You know He's speaking to you in the moment. You know He's encouraging you! You know you've experienced His grace. We know the Lord cares for us and the details of our lives and we know that when we pray for grace, the Lord gives it liberally. Every time we see that grace materialize in our life in some way, whether it be a word that speaks loudly to you from the pages of your Bible, or a word from Heaven to our heart, or a word from someone talking to you (including me through Fresh Manna), or through your Pastor on Sunday, it's time to smile, look up, and say Thank you Lord. You are so merciful, kind and faithful! Thank you for your grace! Thank you for being intimate. I know you'll help me!

Times of feeling exhausted and overwhelmed may come, but just pausing to acknowledge the love of the Lord and His care for you, brings supernatural refreshing. These two simple things have helped us again and again. All of this is the grace of God. It's what you need to keep you feeling empowered and equipped as you press forward in Him! So, If discouragement has got you down, then quiet your heart, pray (with someone if you can), and then look into God's word to see His promises to those that love Him. And let Him encourage you!Psalm 61:2 (NKJV) "From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I"In His love,Pastor Tim BurtIf Fresh Manna is a blessing to you, I'd love to know.
