It is deeply encouraging to know that God works behind the scenes and in the details of our lives. Recently, I sought the Lord for help in a specific situation, and it didn’t take long before I saw clear evidence of His hand at work. I praised Him for His faithfulness.
God works behind the scenes and in the details of my life—and He does in yours as well, even when you don’t immediately see it.
Psalm 54:4 (NKJV): “Behold, God is my helper…”
Hebrews 13:6 (NIV): “So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’”
If you need His help—and of course you do—He can be found. God is not distant or reluctant. He responds to hearts that sincerely seek Him through His Word and through prayer.
Jeremiah 29:14 (NLT): “I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes…”
This promise was originally spoken to Israel, but through Jesus Christ it now reaches into our lives as well. God desires to be your helper because He loves you with the love of a Father. The moment you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He became your Heavenly Father.
Jesus taught that our Heavenly Father knows and cares about the details of our lives: Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT) "So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need."
A while back, a woman came to me asking for prayer about a difficult situation in her workplace. Her two managers and her boss were verbally abusive and openly mocking her—targeting her because she was a Christian and they were atheists. They knew she was a believer, not because she preached at work, but because she lived it.
They knew she was a Christian because she worked with excellence while others tried to skate through the day. They knew it because she refused to participate in crude jokes, sexual conversations, or the belittling of co-workers. She was polite, respectful, and consistent. She simply reflected Jesus through her work ethic and her love walk. She didn’t wear her faith on her sleeve, but she openly thanked God for the good in her life. I knew this woman well and knew these things were true.
One Sunday, she came up to me at church in tears, unsure of what to do. I was angry on her behalf—so angry that part of me wanted to go fix the situation myself. But that would have been inappropriate and unwise. It wasn’t my place. God is her Helper, and I knew He would help her.
I took her to this Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 3:2–3: “And pray that we may be DELIVERED from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”
Even the Apostle Paul asked for prayer to be delivered from malicious people who persecuted him simply because of his faith. The Word of God became our foundation—our authority—for prayer.
This is what we prayed together: “Heavenly Father, I thank You for delivering her from wicked men and women in her workplace who hate her simply because she loves and lives for You. Her life is a living epistle, and these people are being used by Satan to hinder her witness and drive her out. I thank You for delivering her, Lord. Either change their hearts, remove them, or promote her into a place of blessing, in Jesus’ name.”
Afterward, I asked her to thank the Lord every day for delivering her from those people and those circumstances.
She never reported anyone. She didn’t retaliate. She simply prayed and trusted God.
As the weeks passed, she began to share how things were changing. One by one, her boss and the two managers were let go—for reasons completely unrelated to her. Other cruel individuals were removed as well. Soon, she had a new boss who was also a Christian. Favor followed. Peace returned.
Then one weekend she came to me with a smile and said she had won two awards in the same month—Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year.
This didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen.
The Word of God is the source of walking in authority and power. It brings God’s will to pass in our lives. Seek to know it. Learn to pray it. Be patient while God works. He truly is your Helper, and out of His love for you, He works faithfully in the details of your life.
Amos 5:14 (NLT): “Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed.”
