Fresh Mannaby Pastor Tim BurtIn Part One and Part Two of "The Question We All Ask: Why?", we explored how misconceptions or ignorance about God—who He is and how He works—often contribute to the challenges people face in life. God has wired every human heart to seek Him. That’s why every culture throughout history has embraced some form of god or belief system. They know a higher power exists, but without proper guidance, they often don’t truly know Him. Even within Christianity, many denominations fail to teach or instruct people directly from the Bible. Here’s the truth: you cannot truly know God without doing two things. First, you must receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and be born again. Jesus Himself said in John 3:5-7 (NLT2): “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’”Second, you need to study and be taught the Bible. The Bible reveals who God is—His character, the depth of His love, and His redemptive plan for your life through Jesus. Without the truth of Scripture, your understanding of God will only be a figment of your imagination, a god of your own creation, which is idolatry. When you don’t know who God is, your imagination leads you astray. The false god you create will fail to meet your expectations, leaving you disillusioned and disappointed. That’s why God calls us to learn of Him through His Word. As Jesus said in Matthew 11:29 (KJV): “...learn of me... and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”When trials arise in life, there are two foundational truths you must know and live by. First, recognize that Satan is real, and you have an adversary actively working to destroy you. As discussed in Part One, Satan hates humanity because we are made in God’s image. Ephesians 6:11-12 (NLT) warns us: “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the Devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”You cannot defeat an enemy you don’t acknowledge exists. God has equipped you with two critical weapons: His power and His authority. Jesus declared in Luke 10:19 (NKJV): “Behold, I give you the authority to trample... over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” This authority empowers you to resist Satan’s schemes and reclaim what he tries to steal, through faith and prayer.Second, you must understand that God is not the source of our troubles—He is the solution. He is with you, and in you (through the person of the Holy Spirit living within you.) Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20 (TLB): “...I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” And in Psalm 130:7 (NIV), we are reminded: “Put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.” God’s love for you is unwavering, and His desire is to redeem and restore every area of your life.Consider the lives of Joseph, David, and Daniel. Each of them endured immense trials but trusted in God’s unfailing love and redemptive plan. In the end, God restored everything the enemy tried to take from them. Their stories teach us that God’s promises are true: He redeems and restores those who remain faithful. When you grasp these truths, your perspective will shift. You’ll no longer be a passive victim of Satan’s attacks. Instead, you’ll stand firm in prayer, resist Satan in the name of Jesus, and watch as God turns what the enemy meant for harm into good. As it says in Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV): “'No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,'” says the Lord."Let these truths anchor your faith and trust in God! They are a promise to you! In seasons when you cry out, “Why? Why God?” rise up in His strength. Know that God’s love never fails, His redemption is sure, and His authority is yours. Stand firm, resist the devil, and trust God to bring victory from the trials you face.Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”In His love,Pastor Tim Burt
