Psalm 103:2-3 “Praise the Lord, I tell myself, and never forget His benefits. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases”

This will ultimately become a short series about Divine Healing. I just need to build a foundation to get there.

When I was a young adult between the ages of 19 to 23, I got caught up in using and became addicted to drugs and alcohol. I did not know the Lord at that time. I was surrounded by the typical peer pressures that most of the young people in the world are and almost destroyed my life. At the age of 23, someone shared what Jesus did for me, and I gave my life over to Him. My life has not been the same nor am I that same person. The Lord transformed my entire life – Praise His Name!

When I did use drugs and alcohol, it was to escape the drudgeries of life and slip over into happy and party time. Once Jesus fills your life, the need for that evaporates. He gives you the inward strength and power to deal with life and allows us to experience His supernatural peace and joy in the midst of a world in turmoil.

I said all that so that when I shared some verses about our future with you, you wouldn’t think I am trying to find a new escape from life. There are some verses that describe and give us glimpses beyond the veil of what we can see and know with our senses and science – a glimpse into our future with God that could not be known any other way. First the Apostle Paul brings this revelation in 1 Cor. 2:9 “…no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him…” The future and the earth undefiled with Jesus literally on the throne ruling and reigning is something beyond imagination. The earth will literally be renovated by the Lord and we will not recognize it.

Let’s take a peek through this window into the future that God provides. In Isaiah chapters 11 & 65 & in Revelation chapter 22 we see that:
There will be “A new heavens and a new earth”
The past will be forgotten. “Former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind”
In the new earth the wolf will live with the lamb,
The leopard will lie down with the goat,
The calf and the lion and the yearling together;
A little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear and their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest without being hurt.
They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,
Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years;
God’s chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.
They will build houses and live in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat.
They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune;
They will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them.
Before we call on God He knows our requests and will already answer.
For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
No longer will anything be cursed. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and His servants will worship Him.
And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

Although we don’t completely know what this is all exactly like, we have been given glimpses by God to give us something to look forward to. Those days will be exciting beyond what we can imagine.

I told you all this because at that time we will live in God’s presence in an undefiled world. God and we both know that is not the case now. We live in a world that is defiled by sin and the curse of it. Satan’s assault on mankind worms its way into the very fabric of all aspects of our lives. Yet in all this God did not abandon us. To the contrary, He gave us Jesus. Jesus came to not only save us from our sins but deliver us from the curse of the law – the consequences of sin that has permeated and touched all of life. God told us that He was sending a Deliverer out of Zion.

God does deliver and healing is a promise that He made to those who would believe by faith. Psalm 103:1-5 says, “Praise the Lord, I tell myself; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy Name. Praise the Lord, I tell myself, and never forget His benefits. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He ransoms me from death and surrounds me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagles! “

I will continue this tomorrow but stop and think for a minute. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. You won’t need your sins forgiven in Heaven. You wouldn’t be there if you had any. Jesus already took them upon Himself for you. You also won’t need healing in Heaven. So… if He forgives our sins and heals our diseases, it must be here. Read Jesus’ life in the gospels and you will see that is exactly what He did. He forgave and He healed! The world experienced no less sickness then than now. They just didn’t have hospitals and clinics to amplify it. You will read over and over again, “and He healed them all!” More tomorrow…

In His Love,
