Recently, I’ve been in a number of conversations with people…difficult conversations…where they’re asking questions, and hoping for some kind of counsel or answer to help guide them through the difficult situation they’re in. At times like those, I can feel the angst rising up in me, because I really don’t know what to say. Because oftentimes, I haven’t lived through those circumstances, so I can only imagine what they’re facing…and there’s no answer in my bag of life’s experiences to draw from. Thankfully, at those times, I’ve learned to quiet my mind down and ask the Lord to give me His words to help this person. Sometimes He’ll remind me of a verse from His Word to share with them. Other times, He’ll help me direct them to someone else who I know can give them practical answers and counsel. Other times, He’ll simply give me words of encouragement for them and just the right words to pray with them. I’m always amazed what comes out of my mouth when I trust HIM to help me at those times! Thankfully, no matter how difficult the conversation, He is never at a loss for words…and if we’ll trust Him, He’ll make sure we aren’t either!
Jeremiah 1:9 MSG ~ God reached out, touched my mouth, and said, “Look! I’ve just put my words in your mouth – hand delivered!”
