More Than Just Half Full!

Have you noticed that metal water canteens seem to be getting popular? I’ve been seeing them for sale everywhere. But they’re not like the old army style canteens. They’re painted with bright colors and sometimes even sport a fun decal or saying. Well, yesterday I finally caved in and bought one. It has a picture of a half full glass with the word “optimistic” above the water line. And then below the glass, it says “My glass is always half full.” That’s good, right? Yes, but what’s even better than that is that I have something so much better a half full glass of my own optimism. It’s available to all of us, and Bible says it can be an anchor to our soul and emotions. The Bible calls it hope, which is believing for something with expectancy, even when the circumstances don’t warrant it! Now, don’t get me wrong. Optimism is a wonderful thing to have. But it’s not enough when circumstances are screaming at you that “you’re going down” in your finances, or in your health, or in your relationship with someone, or in some difficult situation you don’t have the answer for. That’s when we can have hope…hope in His promises that are unchangeable throughout the ages. But for you to have hope, that means you have to know what He’s promised you! Maybe you’ve let hope slip from your hands. Grab hold of it today…by grabbing hold of His promises for you! And you won’t have to be content to just have a glass that’s half full…He’ll fill you up to the brim with His goodness in your life!

Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT ~ So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
