God’s Ultimate Makeover for You!

There are so many wonderful art strokes from God’s hands throughout nature that some times it’s hard for my eyes to believe what I am actually seeing because of the awesomeness of its beauty. One of those times was from a cockpit on a beautiful clear night at 33,000 feet. I worked for an airline for 13 years. I remember one night the pilots asked me to come up to the cockpit. We had the most amazing view of the greatest display of Northern Lights I had ever seen. It was one thing seeing them from the ground. It was another thing seeing them that high up in the dark of the night. I was memorized almost not being able to believe what I was seeing. (You can see a fantastic video of Northern lights at http://www.northern-lights.no/ )

When I think of this it makes me think of Abraham. The God of the universe makes a personal and intimate promise to this man. If we wonder if God talks to the heart of man, that question is answered in these verses. If we wonder if God cares about what we care about, that question is answered in these verses. If we wonder if God keeps His promises, you find that He always has as he did for AbrahamGod used one of His art strokes to help paint a picture of promise to Abraham. Gen 15: 5-6  “Then the Lord brought Abram outside beneath the night sky and told him, “Look up into the heavens and count the stars if you can. Your descendants will be like that—too many to count!” And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord credited it to him as righteousness because of his faith.” If we wonder if God will do things greater than we could possibly conceive out of love for us – Jesus already proved it to be so.

When you were a child, you probably had your parent or parents make promises to you that you wanted them to reassure to you over and over again. Hopefully they kept their promises to you. Over the course of life, there are so many broken promises, so much disillusionment, and so many times our hopes and expectations are shattered that we lose trust in anyone’s promises including God. We can’t let that distrust infect our trust in God’s promises. Unbelief is the enemy of faith and the hindering force and obstacle to the fulfillment of God’s promises in our life. Promises from God are ushered into our lives through sincere heart understanding of what they are and through our faith in them. Hebrews 11:6 opens our eyes to this revelation of truth. “So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that there is a God and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”

God made Abraham promises and to Abraham’s credit, he believed God! His belief or his faith changed the world! He makes promises to you that will change your world! The first thing the God promises to one who becomes a Christian – to one who has accepted Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, is that He will have His Holy Spirit come to live within you. That is mind-boggling and a fact that to many Christians are unaware of or don’t really understand! This happens the second a person sincerely gives their life to Jesus. The Holy Spirit is given to you as a gift from God to give you supernatural strength and help for the transformation of your life! That is why Jesus said, “You must be born again.” The Holy Spirit within you helps transform you into a new person – one who begins to see and understand life through God’s eyes. The Holy Spirit enables that to happen. 2 Cor 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” That word creature is a Greek word that means you’ve been made over again. It carries the meaning of being remanufactured, or a brand new creation and carries the connotation that you are under someone else’s proprietorship – God Himself. 1 Cor 6:20 says, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Jesus paid the price for your redemption – therefore you belong to Him. He is making you a brand new creature from the inside out. As you respond to the Holy Spirit – as the scriptures lead and instruct you in how to think, how to behave, how to love, and what attitude to carry in life, then over time God transforms you into a “new creature.” If you gave your life to Jesus today and walked closely with Him letting Him work in your heart – fifteen years from now people wouldn’t recognize you. You’d be a new person inside.

In Minnesota, the moment Spring comes, the roads come under construction. They rip them up and rebuild them. God’s word has that effect upon our lives. It’s a good thing – part of the transformation God wants to do in us. Scriptures speak to our heart and begin that renovation such as in Colossians 3:10 (NLT) “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.”The great news is, you don’t have to do this in your own will power or strength. The Holy Spirit supernaturally helps you change in God’s strength! God will truly help you clean up your life and rebuild you into a “new creature.”

There are many marvels like the Northern Lights that are so beautiful and wonderful to behold. As beautiful as they are, I don’t think anything compares to the life of someone who has been utterly transformed by the power of God and changed from a person who lived to serve themselves, into a person who has become Christ-like and lives to serve the Lord and those around them.  Are you ready for a makeover?  Ask Jesus to be your Savior. If you already have, then ask God to change you! Get ready for the ultimate makeover that only He can do in you!

In His Love,
