Live Connected to God’s Power

Fresh Manna

When I was a young man, I felt like I was wired to be entrepreneurial and would dream of ways I could get rich. I wanted to one day become a millionaire.  I started a couple of businesses along the way that both did well.

During this time my thoughts changed. I became more and more involved with discipling and ministering to people at church and began to feel a call of God on my life. Instead of dreaming about being rich, I spent more time thinking more about how I might leave a meaningful mark for the Lord on this life. Knowing my personal weaknesses, it became evident that I would not leave the mark I wanted without the power of God to help me accomplish whatever He was leading me to do!

The Bible teaches us that the power of God is within every Christian to help them walk out their destiny in God. I don’t believe most people spend much time thinking about the power of God within them to help them. Instead they think about the lack of drive in their will power to make all the desired changes they dream of making. Eventually frustration and giving up replaces the incredible life God wants for them.

Some people would laugh at that. The incredible life God has for me? Yea right! My life couldn’t be more ordinary and meaningless. My life couldn’t be more aimless and mundane. My life couldn’t be more out of control with me feeling powerless to change it.

If you think any of these things, I understand why. I’ve been there. But I knew that if I caved into that kind of thinking and defeat, it would be a waste of the life God prepared for me and the plan He desires for me to walk in. So I had to learn to draw strength from God. But how? How do you draw strength from God?

The beginning of drawing God’s power and strength begins with you growing in revelation of how He has felt about you from the very beginning!  Read this and after you do, tell me if you really believe God created you to experience an ordinary, meaningless, aimless, mundane, and out of control life?

Psalm 139:14-18 (NLT) says “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up in the morning, you are still with me!“

Still think you were meant to be ordinary and powerless? Continue reading.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Just by understanding the depth of God’s love for you and learning that He has a glorious plan for you increases the power in your faith and strength! Can you feel it? And it makes you want to draw near to Him and know Him and His will for you all the more! That is what it was designed to do as we see in Jeremiah 29:13-14. “If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes…”

When you find out what God wants for you, what He intended for you, and that He is not out to condemn you but to strengthen you to live this life, it alters your thinking. It creates empowerment to become a world-changer and no, that is not too big of a word for you! You learn to trust, lean on, and draw strength from knowing that God is in your corner and His plan is for you is to succeed. He is not absent from your life. He is waiting to empower you to fulfill the dreams He leads you in! And that empowerment is within and from the Holy Spirit!

Strength and power from God comes to your life and works within you as you continue to pray and ask God to lead you. His Word speaks to you to help build your faith. It gives you direction. And as you continually ask the Lord for help and lean on His power by faith, it rises up within you. You gain power to say yes to what you should and strength to say no to what you should resist. It’s real. It’s there. It’s the strength and power you need to do what He puts in your heart to do. And it is the same Spirit (God’s Spirit) that raised Christ from the dead that lives within you! Have faith in Him and draw on it and begin to live His incredible plan for your life a day at a time. In a decade from now, you’ll be able to look back and see how the power of God in you has helped walk out His plan for your life!

Romans 8:11 (NLT) “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”
