Don't Hinder Your Miracles

Imagine yourself in this moment. Jesus has just called you out of the crowd and asked you to stand in front of everyone. All eyes are on you. You feel exposed, maybe even uncomfortable. And yet, there’s something in His voice—authority mixed with compassion—that makes you step forward anyway.

In Mark 3:1–5, Jesus enters the synagogue and sees a man with a deformed hand. The room is filled with people, but not everyone is there for the same reason. Some are watching with curiosity. Others are watching with criticism. They aren’t thinking about the man’s pain or the limitations he lives with every day. Their minds are filled with rules, opinions, and reasons why Jesus shouldn’t do anything for him.

Jesus knows exactly what they’re thinking.

He sees their hardness, their lack of compassion, and their blindness to the very presence of God standing right in front of them. And in that moment, He does something powerful—He calls the man forward. “Come and stand in front of everyone.”

Then, with all the tension in the room, Jesus says to the man, “Hold out your hand.”

That’s it. No long speech. No complicated instruction. Just a simple command that requires a step of faith.

The man could have hesitated. He could have looked around at the critics, felt their judgment, and pulled back. He could have thought, What if nothing happens? What if I look foolish? What if they mock me?

But he didn’t.

He held out his hand.

And in that moment of obedience, his hand was completely restored.

Now think about this—what if he had let the atmosphere in that room control his response? What if he had allowed the fear, the pressure, or the opinions of others to stop him? The miracle was there, ready—but it required his willingness to respond to Jesus, not to the crowd.

That same tension exists today.

There are still voices that mock faith, question miracles, and label wholehearted devotion to Jesus as foolish. The world can make you feel like believing God fully is something to be embarrassed about. Thoughts creep in: What will people think? Will I be judged? Will I lose relationships? Will I look extreme?

And the honest answer is—some people will think those things.

Just like in that synagogue, there are still hardened hearts and critical voices. There are still people who don’t understand and don’t want to understand. But here’s the truth: their opinions cannot stop what God wants to do in your life—unless you let them.

The greatest hindrance to many miracles isn’t God’s willingness—it’s our hesitation.

God’s love has not changed. His power has not diminished. His desire to move in your life is just as strong today as it was when Jesus stood in that synagogue. But fear, doubt, and the pressure of others can cause us to hold back the very step of faith that unlocks what He wants to do.

Jesus is still saying, in a thousand different ways, “Step forward. Trust Me. Reach out.”

The question is—will you?

Will you set aside the fear of what others think? Will you push past the confusion and simply believe that He is good, that He is able, and that He cares about every detail of your life? Will you stop measuring your faith by the reactions of others and start responding only to Him?

Because miracles often begin with a simple act of obedience.

When you choose to trust Him—when you “hold out your hand”—you position yourself to experience His power in ways you never imagined. It may not always look dramatic, but His work will be real, personal, and life-changing.

Don’t let the noise of the crowd silence your faith.

Don’t let fear talk you out of what God is ready to do.

Don’t hinder your miracles.

Step forward. Trust Him. And watch what He does.

John 20:29 (NIV): “Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’”

Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to trust You beyond what I feel and beyond what others think. Remove every fear, doubt, and hesitation that keeps me from fully responding to You. Give me the courage to step forward in faith and obey Your voice, even when it’s uncomfortable. I believe You are good, You are able, and You care about my life. Teach me to trust You more, so I don’t hinder what You want to do in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
